Artistes Celebrate Saint Cecilia’s Day With Young Students

In observance of Saint Cecilia’s Day, the Feast of Musicians, several renowned Saint Lucian soca artists brought joy and inspiration to the children of Kidz Pathway Early Childhood Care Educational Development Center in Grande Riviere, Gros Islet.

Sedale Semi, Shemmy J, Ezra D Fun Machine, and DJ Hyper D delivered vibrant performances, treating the youngsters to a medley of their hit songs.

The surprise visit left the students ecstatic as they sang and danced along with some of their favorite local artists. Sedale highlighted the significance of introducing young children to music at an early age, stating, “Exposing children to music at such a tender age helps ignite their creativity and passion. These are the future of soca and music in Saint Lucia, and events like these inspire them to dream big.”

The performances received an enthusiastic response from the children, with Ezra D Fun Machine noting, “The energy and excitement from the kids were amazing. It’s events like these that remind us of the joy music brings, and it’s so important to make them feel included in our cultural celebrations.”

For Shemmy J, the opportunity to perform for the children carried special significance. He shared, “Saint Cecilia’s Day is about honouring the power of music, and what better way to do that than by performing for the children of tomorrow. This experience is not just for us as artists but also for them to see that they too can follow in our footsteps someday.”

“This celebration of Saint Cecilia’s Day exemplified how music can bridge generations and inspire the next wave of Saint Lucia’s cultural ambassadors,” remarked DJ Hyper D.

The School Administrator, Miss Limonda St. Ange expressed gratitude to the artists for taking the time to connect with the students. “We are incredibly thankful to these talented artists for making this day so special for the children. It means a lot that they took time from their busy schedules to share their music and inspire our little ones,” the administrator said.

The artists left the children with a powerful message: the importance of following their dreams and prioritising their education as they grow.

  1. Nice. But why just one preschool? They could have brought the youngsters from all schools in the area to the Grande Riviere playing field to enjoy the event. The artistes are already taking time off from work and they are in the area. Well, maybe next year.
