Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at Cul de Sac on Saturday, resulting in injury to a man in his twenties from the same area.
A private vehicle conveyed the victim to the hospital after a bullet, allegedly fired by a known individual, grazed his head.
The incident, near a bar at about 12:40 pm, added to an alarming surge in gun violence that has prompted calls for harsher penalties for gun crimes.
On Friday, pedestrians near the New Village entrance on Chaussee Road, Castries, were shocked to hear the sound of gunfire.
Eyewitnesses told St. Lucia Times that around 4:30 p.m., a lone gunman opened fire on another man, injuring him.
The assailant attempted to flee toward the Anglican Primary School but was apprehended by a police officer who fired several rounds.
According to reports, the police recovered a loaded firearm that the suspect had thrown into a drain as he fled.

Last night I dreamed of a solution to the gun crime on the Island. In a case where the victim did not die, one or more fingers will be cut off, depending on the severity of the wound. That operation should be done publicly by one flown in for a few hours from somewhere nearby; that is bound
to teach the culprits you mean business; enough of their crap with peoples lives.
St Lucia needs to disband and reform the Royal St Lucia police ,have a National Guard and Coast Guard which are separate from the police force this works in Barbados,Antigua and Saint Kitts and judiciary needs be strengthened and this needs to happen now or we will end up like Haiti .
