Over 80 Derelict Vehicles Removed For Disposal

Since the recent announcement of a joint police and Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority (SLSWMA) campaign to rid roadways and other spaces of derelict vehicles, the authorities have removed 82.

A Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) update disclosed that the campaign tagged 343 vehicles as of Friday.

The vehicle locations included Castries, Gros Islet, Dennery, Praslin, Laborie, Canaries, Choiseul, Micoud, and Soufriere.

According to the RSLPF, owners received seven days to comply with removal notices, failing which other arrangement were made to take away the vehicles.

A private contractor is reported to have been involved.

However, the RSLPF explained that some owners removed the items.

“The removal exercise will continue until every vehicle has been removed and the authorities are satisfied that there is no longer a risk to public health and safety,” the RSLPF update stated.

  1. Pass bernard hill….pass by the top of the anglican school….that white truck has been there for almost a year plus.

  2. Good riddance—next stop should be the public service– there are a few old derelict vehicles that need to be forcefully removed.

  3. Good move … then address those auto mechanic/repair individuals who use the roadside as part of their shop …

  4. Great stuff 👍 well done. They made St Lucia look dirty and more should be done to clean up the place.
Congratulations to you for doing this. Hopefully next will be the state of the roads and roadsides.
Clear old derelict buildings, Give a tin of paint to every household to paint the front of their house, make St Lucia bright and colourful for tourists to want to come back.
At the moment St Lucia is like a shanty town.

  5. There are derelict vehicles in the city, there’s one by the Aquarius Crossing from which fried chicken is sold.

  6. I support this venture 100%, some individuals are using public space as their dumping ground for these derelict vehicles. I hope the authorities locate the owners and have them pay the cost for the removal of these eyesores that make our communities look disgusting. RSLPF and Solid Waste Mnagement, you have my support and based on the comments that I have read, Saint Lucians are behind you.

  7. Whats about by the Reginal Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bexon. Yes someone has used there as a dumping ground or a land field so much garbage and old vehicles out there it is an eye sore.
Please go and visit that place. Thank you!
