“Too Much Anger!” – Pierre Calls For Peace, Goodwill

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has expressed a wish for a peaceful Christmas while voicing concern over what he described as a growing climate of anger and mistrust.

“There is too much anger in this country,” Pierre said. “At least during this time of goodwill, I hope we can have some level of peace and tranquility. Let us be our neighbor’s keeper and stop this atmosphere of hate and division.”

Earlier this week, he urged every citizen to unite in kindness and understanding, reminding them that setting aside differences can help build a more peaceful and supportive Saint Lucia, especially during the holiday season.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came amid a sharp spike in political rhetoric, with both the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) and the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) blaming each other for fueling disunity through divisive and harmful speech.

The political rhetoric uptick has coincided with approaching general elections, due in or before 2026.

However, amid opposition urgings for an early return to the polls, citing the ruling Labour Party’s mismanagement in office, Prime Minister Pierre recently indicated that there would be no snap election.

“I can assure you there are going to be no elections in Saint Lucia anytime soon. Elections are called by the Prime Minister,” he told reporters, adding that no one will dictate to the PM on the issue.

Pierre’s SLP surged into office with a landslide win at the July 26, 2021, general elections, when the Allen Chastanet-led UWP administration managed to retain a mere two of the eleven seats it had in the 17-seat House of Assembly before the polls.

  1. Pierre, Let it be seen in the people’s house in SLU. Stop the lies and tell people it is politics. Respect each other. Let charity start at home and the citizens will follow your example

  2. Seriously… Wow ..
Good message… But let’s not forget that he was head of the party that was putting division and hatred in the hearts of st Lucians for 5 year….

It’s amazing what politicians say when they are out of office as opposed to what they say when they are in office ?

We, St Lucian need to wake up and stop being manipulated by these politicians.

They take away our basic rights…. And then return them making it look like a grand achievement or gesture.
    For eg.
We are ENTITLED to a safe environment.
It’s the government’s job to provide that.

We are ENTITLED to good roads ….
It’s the government job to provide that.

These are not favours to be granted to the people. It’s your job. So do your jobs.

  3. “TOO MUCH ANGER”
    From Philip Pierre???
    Should we laugh or cry?
The thin skinned, insular and parochial adherent of personal attacks and division in St Lucia.
The cringe character who has spent decades injecting his low class type of division in this country, where he divides us based on every criteria he can think of!

And for what purpose? He does this because he has such low self-esteem, is so unsure of himself, hates the colour of his skin so much rhat he can’t live wirh himself or in peace with others.

The worst part is that he has climbed to the top of the greasy pole of politics and as PM and an MP has spread his venom throughout the island.
There is no sense of joy about this little low level man, no peace and happiness , no sense of being soneone who can bring success to Lucia or alleviate our economic and social pain.
His only asset is being able to use roro and maypyis to destroy that which is good and decent about our country.
Philip Pierre now gleefully presides over the most destructive, malevolent, administration in our history and one that has undermined every institution in our 230 sq miles.
Shallow, vindictive and lacking in amy moral depth.
    What a character!

  4. I am neither SLP nor UWP – but you guys in this 238 square mile Helen of the West could certainly benefit from some SERIOUS peace on every level. The chaos and the violence in this country has been venomous on every level.

Most of you are evil, envious and full of hatred. I remember growing up in St. Lucia where all those who pursued higher education was viewed as “that girl fresh” “that boy fresh” – you folk have certainly not changed with the “fight down” attitude – stay in St. Lucia where you all belong. From what I have noticed you all are going no where fast politically and otherwise. Godspeed.

  5. Remember Sir that trust is earned not given. When you trust you give someone the benefit of the doubt and allow them to prove themselves but if you realize that they are malice, vicious, lying how then can you trust that person?. You politicians are the ones that taught us that but those of us that rise above that don’t hate but express ourselves without biasnesss. Its only when you experience something that you are able to tell about it. Advice your collegues as well that hatred and lies should be stopped by them. To my fellow St. Lucians let us try to leave in harmony with each other and dont hate one another because of politicians but I say to those who dislike me because of politics and expressing myself that I am not bothered by such. I have learnt that anyone that does not contribute to your life (And by contribution I don’t just mean material things or money) you should not bother with them infact you pray to God about all situations. A peaceful and joyful festive season to you my people. Let us look up to God and not Politicians and please do not let them fool you with their words because they prove over and over that the only need you during election and for campaigning. Be Good. Peace and love

  6. Philip Pierre is rattled, out of his depth, incompetent, cruel, completely tone deaf and is destroying this country.
    He should resign.

  7. When I read the comments I realized the uwps are professional in telling lies. Wow st. Lucians read the comments and analyze them one will see once the uwps are not in power they are dying.

  8. St. Lucia Times, you can print everything other people say, but the thing I say cannot be printed. Anyway your choice.
