The St. Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) recently hosted its Second Annual SPARC (SLASPA Preparing Ambassadors to Rise Cohesively) Programme, an initiative to give back to local communities as part of the organisation’s ongoing corporate social responsibility.
The programme, which saw significant involvement from SLASPA’s corporate partners, staff, and management, included a series of events to bring joy to children and families across the island.
Karim Sifflet, Senior Manager of Marketing, Business Development, and Customer Care at SLASPA, expressed his pride in the initiative’s success, while highlighting the significance of teamwork and community engagement.
The activity included a toy drive, with SLASPA staff visiting the Faux A Chaud area of Castries to distribute toys to children in the community.
“It was such great joy to present gifts to the children in this area,” Sifflet explained. The initiative also saw the presentation of a laptop to the Transformation Officer of the area, aimed at supporting the community’s educational and technological development.
The second part of the programme took place in SLASPA’s atrium, where gifts were distributed to children from the wider communities of Saint Lucia. SLASPA saw the occasion as not only an opportunity to spread Christmas cheer, but also to demonstrate the importance of corporate collaboration in community development.
“I’d really like to show our deepest gratitude to our corporate sponsors and partners who were able to attend this ceremony today. It meant a lot, and you can see the smiles and joys of the kids’ faces when they receive the gifts from these sponsors. It means a lot,” Sifflet stated,
Looking forward, Sifflet expressed optimism for the future of the SPARC programme, with plans for an even bigger initiative next year.
