‘A Career With A Purpose’ – RSLPF Launches Recruitment Drive

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has launched a recruitment drive to find eighty men and women to join its ranks.

Applicants must be physically fit, motivated, and dedicated, between 18 and 35, and possess five CXC passes, including English.

“A career with a purpose – a legacy of service,” a recruitment promotion on the RSLPF’s Facebook page declares.

The application deadline is January 31, 2025, and a six-month course covering multiple subjects will commence once the recruitment process ends.

Once selected and after completing the training, successful applicants would take the oath of office and be on probation for two years.

The last training course for new police officers ran from June 24 to December 17, 2024.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, who addressed the course launch, urged eighty police recruits to use their ‘immense power’ wisely and safeguard their integrity.

Pierre, responsible for National Security, warned that upon completing their training and going about their duties, they would encounter negativity and a society that almost wants to see them fail.

He advised those who were there merely for a salary to get up and leave immediately, declaring that they would never get enough money for the work they would have to do.

“You have to be here because you are committed to improve the quality of life for yourself and when you improve the quality of life for yourself, by extension, the quality of life of the community will improve,” Pierre observed.

The latest police recruitment drive comes against the backdrop of mounting concern over road accidents, crime in general, and a record number of homicides in 2024.

As Saint Lucia prepared to enter the new year, Acting Commissioner of Police Verne Garde warned lawbreakers across Saint Lucia, signaling a firm approach to crime and road safety.

“2025 is a different year for crime and road safety. And persons who are in conflict with the law have to watch out!” Garde declared.
