The family of 20-year-old Cassie Rosemand, who sustained multiple injuries in a shooting incident last Friday night at Marc, Bexon, is appealing for financial support to cover her medical expenses.
Rosemand was ambushed by shooters during the attack, which claimed the life of 22-year-old Emen Emmanuel, also of Marc.
One of Rosemand’s relatives, Merlinda Adrien, spoke to St Lucia Times about her condition and the need for funds to support her treatment.
Rosemand suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, with the bullet travelling to her neck and breaking a bone. Another bullet struck her hip, causing spinal damage, while a third hit her arm. She also sustained a head injury after falling during the attack.
“She is stable; she has movement in her face, but her body is still numb,” Adrien disclosed.
She added that Rosemand requires medications and medical supplies costing approximately $22 000 before doctors can proceed with surgery.
Adrien noted that the money is only for initial supplies and medications, as the full cost of surgery is yet to be determined.
“Everything has to be paid before they do the surgery. When we buy the things, they doing the surgery,” she said.
The family has set up a GoFundMe account but is currently experiencing issues with the link. Anyone willing to assist can contact Adrien directly at 1 (758) 726-0573.
Plans are also underway for a fundraising event in February, with details to be announced soon. Updates will be provided once their plans are finalised.

I wonder which hospital she’s at that ask for money before they operate?
Please provide banking details, I feel for our young people and appeal to them to put down the guns, it’s not worth it. We can do better St Lucia, let’s return to the basic value of loving your neighbour as yourself
It is such a pity that we do not seek God ❗
I don’t mean no harm – with the ongoing gun violence in St. Lucia – the St. Lucian government should have funds available for the medical expenses of the victims on 758. Also, let the gun-slingers and their family sell all that they have to cover the cost of their actions.
BTW your healthcare system is not even equipped to handle these calamities. Question: so if you don’t have the funds does that mean you do without the medication and medical supplies???? – this is 2025 you folk in 758 can not be serious.
This is so ridiculous the person life is in danger and the hospital wants the money upfront before surgery why not give the lady a payment plan will the hospital let the lady die if she doesn’t have the money??
This is not a new thing in St Lucia – both Private and Public hospitals expect payment up front – even for things like antibiotics! I have experienced this personally for myself in 2013 and my Mother-in-Law in 2015. Just an outrageous state of affairs. Government money available for all sorts of nonsense but not for basic healthcare!
… and there I was thinking that when someone was brought to the emergency room, doctors did all they could for them regardless of cost, how naive of me.
We need universal healthcare in this country immediately. Put the property taxes back so we can afford our healthcare. This is crazy
Government have small meetings all over the place. Food alone for those meetings does cost all the way 7000 dollars amd people cannot get help in such situations
Reposting because I know it’s true – but as a healthcare worker (who left St. Lucia a long time ago) I find this practice to request payment up front for antibiotics to be both dangerous and unethical because when an infection is identified you must treat sooner than later in order to avoid further complication(s) etc. etc. – wow

I hope she gets help considering the financial crisis in this country. Parents talk to your children, pray for them to seek God at an early age before it is too late
