Clarke House Surges to Soufrière Victory

The boys and girls of Rodney House were unable to build on a 50-point lead going into the track segment of the Soufrière Comprehensive Secondary School sports competition, as Clarke House topped the final standings by over 400 points.

Clarke amassed 4 325 points, with Rondey second on 3 901. Ira House was third with 3 453, and Toussaint House was fourth on 3 219.

Rising star Joaqwan Alexander of Rodney House was the top male athlete at the Soufrière Stadium. He won the Under-18 100m in 10.7 seconds, the 200m in 22.0, and his pet event, the 400m, in 51.4 seconds beneath the majestic Pitons.

Second to Alexander in the 100m and 200m was 16-year-old Sherquan Joseph in 10.7 and 22.4 for Clarke House, whilst 15-year-old Clarke hero Deslie Nelson finished the 400m in 51.8, and ran 2:00.2 for the 800m win.

Jaden Gonzague topped the Under-16 boys with victories in the 100m (12.0), 200m (24.7), and 400m (58.0) for Toussaint House. Ira’s Chaz Alexander got wins in the 800m (2:16.9) and 1500m (5:40.8).

Emjay Francis was a third triple champion, taking gold in the 300m (48.1), 600m (1:53.1), and 1200m (4:36.4) for Ira in the Under-14 boys. Rodney’s Jermal Gustave stopped the clock at 10.0 seconds for the 80m and 18.6 for the 150m.

Honours were shared in the Under-18 and Under-16 girls. Marissa Duncan won the 100m and 200m for Clarke, whilst Kayran Montoute topped the 800m and 1500m for Ira in the U18. Keanna Butcher (2:52.9 and 1:00.3) won the 800m and 400m, whilst Clarke teammate Amaya Emmanuel won the 100m and 200m.

In the Under-14 girls, however, Aminta Didier of Toussaint ran 11.1 in the 80m, 20.6 in the 150m, and 1:55.4 in the 600m for gold. Her housemate, Alexia Skye Philip, got the 300m in 48.78 and ran 4:01.7 for the 1000m.
