For the second successive day, the defending Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) Women’s 50-Overs champions, Saint Lucia fell to a disappointing defeat, effectively ending their chances of retaining the title.
Saint Lucia lost by three wickets to St Vincent and the Grenadines on Monday at the Geneva Playing Field in Grand Bay, Dominica.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat, Saint Lucia were bowled out for 78 in 19.4 overs in the second round of the WICB Senior Women’s Tournament. Crisa Smith top-scored with 31, facing 48 balls. Areka Hooper took 3-10 from just 1.4 overs, while West Indies player Jannillea Glasgow added 2-9 from four overs, and Tracy Byron claimed 2-14.
St Vincent and the Grenadines needed just 18.1 overs to chase down the target, though they did lose seven wickets. Their 79-7 owed much to Japhina Joseph, who led with 14 runs off 25 balls.

Young West Indies player Selena Ross captured 2-18 from four overs. Although Teaddie Crawford was economical, yielding just nine runs from her four overs and taking a wicket, the Vincentians were able to overhaul the target with relative ease.
At Benjamin’s Park, Grenada secured their second win, defeating host country Dominica in a dominant performance. Grenada chased down a target of 34 runs to claim victory by six wickets.
Following a rest day on Tuesday, the championship decider will be played between Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines. Saint Lucia and Dominica will play for the wooden spoon.
Right after the 50-over series, the T20 championship, in which Saint Lucia are defending champions, will be decided.
