Charlemagne headed to the Soufrière Stadium with a 61-point lead in the Fond St Jacques Primary Sports Championships—598 to 537 over Alcindor in second. The boys and girls in athletic gold were able to stave off a stiff challenge from their crimson counterparts, prevailing 1 069 to 971, with Hippolyte in third on 887 after the track events.
Among the outstanding athletes for the champions were Kaylee Mon Louis with gold medals in the Under-13 girls’ 300m, 600m, and 1000m, and Merabel Mon Louis, who captured gold in the 80m and 150m, and silver in the 600m. Among the Under-9 boys, Yanik Prospere got first place in the 60m and 150m.
But it was strength in depth that did the trick for Charlemagne, as their red rivals had four athletes carrying a strong challenge.
Alcindor had the top runner in the Under-13 boys, Jeremiah Philip winning the 80m and 150m, before coming back for the 1200m win. In the Under-9 girls, Anna Gustave was victorious in the 60m and 150m. The red house also swept the Under-7 division through Gabrielle Augustin in the girls and Jermane Jn Charles in the boys, each winning the 50m and 100m.
Not to be left out, Hippolyte got four medals from Janik Prospere, winning the 80m and 150m in his division, taking silver in the 300m, and bronze in the 1200m.
