Shealawn Daniel starred with bat and ball, whilst teammate Naheim David took five wickets to help Ciceron Secondary School defeat Corinth Secondary School by three wickets in schoolboy cricket.
The teams met on Thursday, the third day of the 2025 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools’ Under-19 50-Over Boys’ Cricket Tournament.
Corinth won the toss at the Gros Islet Playing Field and opted to bat first in a game reduced to 35 overs per side. Thanks to an unbeaten 49 from Jaser St Martin, they made a total of 141 in 27 overs. Ethan Forde and Zidane Wilson added 14 each.
The pace duo of Daniel and David took nine wickets between them. David’s five-wicket haul came from eight overs. The 17-year-old from Sarrot said he was familiar with the pitch, as he trains with the Northern Cluster programme. Daniel took four wickets in six overs.
Daniel, a 16-year-old from Castries, was instrumental in crafting the reply for the Ciceron boys. He hit 47, whilst Hayden James added 40 to guide their side to 144-7.
Tristan Wilson, Nicken Justin, and Neil Poyotte took two wickets each.
Three more matches are scheduled for February 14:
VFCSS vs Choiseul Secondary at the Piaye Playing Field.
St Mary’s College vs Patricia D James at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
