LHCSS, SALCC Win Comfortably in Under-19 Males Volleyball

The Vigie Sports Complex in Castries hosted two exciting matchups in men’s school volleyball on Thursday.

In the first game, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS) defeated Beanfield Comprehensive Secondary School (BCSS) in straight sets (25-14, 25-16). The teams traded points early on, but LHCSS quickly took control, building a strong lead. LHCSS maintained consistent scoring across all rotations, while BCSS struggled with side-outs, ultimately leading to victory for the Castries-based team.

Despite the win, LHCSS Assistant Coach Windell Dupre expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s overall performance.

“I saw amazing serving and passing. If we can just work on directing our attack, timing our blocks, and reading the game better, we will be in great shape,” he said.

The second match saw Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) take on Micoud Secondary School (MSS). SALCC dominated the encounter, securing a 2-0 victory (25-13, 25-10). Their solid serving and offensive execution overwhelmed MSS, who struggled to find a rhythm.

Following the match, SALCC Head Coach Florian Combie highlighted the advantage of his players’ club volleyball experience.

“Most of the guys already play in clubs and remain very active in volleyball, whether they are in school or not,” he said. “Our biggest challenge was adjusting to the environment, especially the wind, but once we adapted, our game improved significantly.”
