Two Children Among Persons Injured In Vieux Fort Accident

A four-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl were among several individuals who sustained injuries following an incident involving a motorcycle in Vieux Fort on Sunday.

Event officials later indicated that the youngsters were fine and praised the response of the police, the fire service, and doctors.

A crowd had gathered at the Vieux Fort Promenade to watch a motorcycle display when one of the riders lost control and crashed into protective guardrails, knocking them down and injuring spectators standing behind the rails.

Social media videos showed the motorcyclist doing a stunt before the crash.

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency responders received a call for assistance at 4:36 pm and rushed the injured children and three adults to St. Jude Hospital.

Four other individuals involved declined emergency transportation to the medical facility.

  1. There were several accidents involving motorcyclists during the weekend, hope all the injured get a speedy and complete recovery. My heart goes out to the children especially among those injured.

  2. Who built (and tested) the “protective” guardrails? A liability issue I would think, but nothing will happen of course… This is St Lucia!
