Mon Repos Thump Vieux Fort North by 134 Runs

Mon Repos Senior Cricket Team defeated Vieux Fort North by a mammoth 134 runs on Thursday night in the Prime Minister’s T20 Cup.

The evening’s fixture at the Gros Islet Playing Field saw Mon Repos put on a first innings score of 235 runs, buoyed by 100 from wicketkeeper-batsman and eventual player of the match Sabinus Emmanuel. Emmanuel’s masterclass innings totalled 110 runs with six fours and five sixes off only 56 balls.

Together with his opening partner David Naitram, who scored an impressive 73 runs off 49 deliveries, Emmanuel was key to a game-changing opening stand of 158 runs.

In reply, Vieux Fort North could only amass 101 runs in their 20 overs. The run-scoring was pegged back due to superb bowling from various Mon Repos bowlers.

Shawnil Edward would claim figures of 3-9, ably supported by Jamal Lesmond (3-21) and Marklyn Syvlester (2-12), stifling Vieux Fort North’s pursuit of the massive total.

Mon Repos will hope to continue to move from strength to strength for the rest of the competition, while the men from Vieux Fort North will need to regroup.
