Ciceron Sweeps, SALCC Piles on in Schools’ Cricket

As the weather is heating up, so is the action in the preliminary rounds of the 2025 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools’ Under-19 50-Over Boys’ Cricket Tournament.

Over the past two days, Ciceron wrapped up their group, Choiseul got their third win, and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) brought out the fireworks in a remarkable batting exhibition.

At the Balata Playing Field, Ciceron Secondary School defeated Patricia D James Secondary (PDJSS) by four wickets, sweeping Group C. PDJSS were dismissed for 81 in 22 overs, Sergio Sydney making 24, whilst Sherlawn Daniel took a brilliant 3-4, Uryiah Charlemagne 3-17, and Naheim David 3-13. Ciceron ended on 82-6 in 13.3 overs, Naheim David making 29 and Hayden James 13. Javon Fevriere took 4-20 for PDJSS.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, SALCC made a mammoth total of 641-8 against Stanley Jon Odlum TVET, all the more remarkable as the game had been reduced to 39 overs. Zhanni Joseph (152 not out), Leon Alexander (130), Johnathan Daniel (109), and Tyler Venner (107 retired not out) all got fine centuries. Khan Elcock added 34 and Darvin Forde 31 not out. In reply, Stanley Jon Odlum TVET were skidded out for 23 in 6.2 overs, SALCC winning by 618 runs. Forde took 7-14 and Yulieski Gustave 3-3.

And at the Piaye Playing Field, Choiseul Secondary defeated Piaye TVET by six wickets.

Piaye TVET made 121 all out in 20 overs with Shaquan Mitchel 48 and Nicus Peterson 25. Jeanille Williams took 5-35, Xavi Agdomar and Samuel Jean got two wickets each. In reply, Choiseul Secondary made 123-4 in 15.2 overs. Germian Thomas top-scored with 43, Xavi Agdomar 24, and Jeanille Williams 16.

OTHER RESULTS: 

At Gros Islet Playing Field: Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (284 all out, Aaron St Clair 95, Aiden Scholar 53, Armani Florius 3-53, Samuel Vitalis 3-57) beat Babonneau Secondary School (78 all out, Samuel Vitalis 28, Bjorn Fanis 3-29, Kaleb Charles 3-34, Aiden Scholar 2-4) by 206 runs.

At Phillip Marcellin Grounds: Saint Lucia Sports Academy (178-5, Nathanial Joseph 34 not out, Sheldon Willie 31, Zinakii Louis 30, Liam Joseph 3-35) beat Micoud Secondary School (84 all out, Liam Joseph 15, Sheldon Willie 2-12, Jaushan Mitchel 2-20) by 94 runs.

At Piaye: Soufrière Comprehensive Secondary School (157-6, Samuel Alexander 34, Curdin Jones 24, Micah Naitrum 3-31) beat Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (112-9, Kaylan Neptune, Samuel Alexander 4-14) by 45 runs.
