Saint Lucian swimmers were celebrated last weekend as the Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation (SLAF) held its 2025 Awards Ceremony. It honoured the best in swimming over the past two years, including nods for the top swimmers, coaches, clubs, and contributors who have propelled the sport forward.
USA-based high school student-athletes Antoine Destang and Fayth Jeffrey were double winners as junior male and female swimmers of the year for both years. Jayhan Odlum-Smith won the senior award for both years, whilst Mikaili Charlemagne won the women’s award for 2023, and Naekeisha Louis for 2024.
SLAF crowned the island’s top swimmers for their outstanding performances in individual strokes, age group categories, and open water events.
The male freestyle awards went to Olympian Jayhan Odlum-Smith, who also picked up the butterfly title for 2023. Breaststroke went to D’Andre Blanchard for 2023 and Karic Charles for 2024. The 2024 butterfly crown, as well as the backstroke and individual medley titles for both years belonged to Antoine Destang.
Among the girls, Mikaili Charlemagne won the freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke titles for both years. Breaststroke belonged to Naima Hazell in 2023 and Fayth Jeffrey in 2024, and Jeffrey took the individual medley for both years.
Among age group champions, Miles Andrew exited the boys’ Under-9 with consecutive titles. Nathan Lewis (2023) and Tyler Dantes (2024) won the 9-10 class. Noah Dorville (2023) and James Sylvester (2024) took the 11-12 division. Antoine Destang (2023) and Noah Dorville (2024) won for 13-14. Tristan Dorville (2023) and Antoine Destang (2024) captured 15-17. Jayhan Odlum-Smith was a double winner in 18 & Over.
Open water awards went to D’Andre Blanchard (2023), Noah Dorville (2024), Mikaili Charlemagne (2023), and Caitlyn Polius (2024).
Seajays Swim Club were adjudged back-to-back winners of the club of the year title, and team players of the year were celebrated for their leadership and teamwork across clubs. The most Improved swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and officials also received well-deserved recognition, across a night of celebration and inspiration, demonstrating that Saint Lucian swimming is stronger than ever.
