Camille Henry Memorial Run District 2

The Daren Sammy Cricket Ground turned fuschia on Wednesday, as Camille Henry Memorial School (CHMS) took over the venue and the District 2 track championships. CHMS won 460 total points, increasing the lead they already held coming into the track events.

An 11-point Wednesday morning advantage ballooned into a 118-point triumph. Well behind CHMS’s 460 points, Vide Bouteille Primary School, on 342, did well to hold off a stiff challenge from Carmen Rene Memorial School (327) for second place. Canon Laurie Anglican Primary School tallied 206, Gordon and Walcott Memorial Methodist School 205, and Morne Du Don Government Combined School 167. The district spans the northern part of Castries.

Topping the 13-plus division were Faith Myers of Morne Du Don and Derwayne Dormant of Methodist. Myers won the girls’ 80m in 12.2 seconds and was second in the 150m. Dormant won the 300m in 49.7 and 150m in 21.0, with silver in the 80m.

In Under-13 girls, Alexia Giddings of CHMS reigned supreme with three gold medals. She took the 600m in 2:03.5, 1000m in 3:52.6, and 300m in 49.3 seconds. For the boys, the Vide Bouteille duo of Deandre’ James and Omarian Duncan shared top honours. James ran 10.5 for the 80m, and 20.1 for the 150m. Duncan did 46.5 for the 300m, and 4:20.7 for the 1200m.

Kadia Joseph of CHMS won the Under-11 girls, capturing gold in the 80m (10.1) and 150m (22.2), and silver in the 300m. Vide Bouteille’s Nathan St Rose won the 80m in 11.2 and 300m in 50.0 for the boys.

CRMS swept the Under-9 category, through Maeva Gabriel and Jaelan Howell. Gabriel (9.5 and 25.1) won the girls’ 60m and 150m, Howell (23.4) won boys’ 150m and was second in the 60m.

CHMS won six of the 10 relays. They took the 4×100 Under 13 girls and boys, winning in 57.4 and 55.5, respectively. They also won the Under-13 girls’ 4x300m in 3:34.5, a split-second difference between them and Methodist in the silver medal position. Vide Bouteille boys denied CHMS the U13 relay sweep, however, clocking 3:20.2 for the 4x300m, with CHMS second.

It was even steven in the U11 relays. Behind Kadia Joseph, CHMS won the 4x75m and 4x150m girls in 47.7 and 1:42.1, with CRMS second in both races. Nathan St Rose guided Vide Bouteille to victory in the boys’ contests in 45.0 and 1:35.2, CHMS taking silver on both occasions.

CRMS won the girls’ Under-9 4x75m in 53.5, ahead of their Sans Souci rivals. CHMS, however, turned the tables to win the boys’ relay in 51.2, a split-second ahead of CRMS.
