Authorities have intensified efforts to quell escalating violence between rival groups from Odsan and Barre Du Chausee, following a series of shootings—including a fatal incident.
As a result of a coordinated operation on Sunday, 21-year-old Joachim Evans of Odsan was held with a loaded pistol, charged, and remanded to prison.
According to a statement from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), officers from the Gang, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit, the Special Services Unit, and the Special Operations Team targeted multiple locations. The operation followed a March 19 shooting in which an officer narrowly avoided being caught in the crossfire.
During Sunday’s operation, which began around 5 a.m., police searched three locations in Odsan and seized a Taurus Armas G3c pistol loaded with a chambered round and nine additional rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Evans was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. Following a court appearance, he was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility until April 29.
The RSLPF commended the “swift and coordinated efforts of all units involved, emphasising their commitment to restoring safety in affected communities”.
Authorities have urged anyone with information on criminal activity to report it anonymously via the Crime Hotline application or by calling 555.
