Saint Lucia’s Armani Modeste and his East Texas A&M University (ETAMU) teammates stormed to a world-leading time and school record in the men’s 4x200m relay at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday.
Competing at Mike A. Myers Stadium, the quartet of Oguz Uyar (Turkey), Modeste, Ibrahim Fuseini (Ghana), and Enoch Fosuhene (Ghana) ran a time of 1:21.81 to win Heat 2, setting the fastest world mark this season, as well as the quickest since 2023.
The 24-year-old Modeste, one of Saint Lucia’s top quarter-milers (behind only Olympian Michael Joseph), boasts personal bests of 20.78 (200m) and 46.45 (400m). A product of St. Mary’s College, he previously competed for Ohio State before joining ETAMU.
Formerly known as Texas A&M University-Commerce, ETAMU has had at least one Saint Lucian on their athletics roster for the past five years. In 2024, Jenneil Jacobie claimed the conference high jump title for the university.
The Lions are back in action at the David Noble Relays in San Angelo from Thursday to Saturday.
