A deadly shooting on Sunday, April 13, has claimed the lives of two men, leaving a community in shock and a family in mourning.
Around 3:15 p.m., officers from the Gros Islet Police Station responded to reports of gunfire in Inglewood, Grande Riviere. Upon arrival, first responders found two unresponsive men inside a vehicle, both with multiple gunshot wounds. A medical professional at the scene later confirmed their deaths.
The victims have been identified as 33-year-old Anthony Augustin, also known as “Ronnie,” from Ti Colon, Castries, and 34-year-old Dave Troy Louis from Fond Mange, Castries.
Reporters spoke with Dave Louis’ brother, who was visibly distraught and said he spent a sleepless night.
“The situation is really sad,” he said. “I can’t really cope. I have a headache from yesterday. My brother is always there for me… {The family is] taking it hard.”
He revealed that his last conversation with Dave had been earlier that day. “Somebody called me, that’s how I knew about it,” he said.
Dave leaves behind a four-year-old son.
Dave’s girlfriend, also grieving, shared that she had last spoken to him around noon.
When asked how she was coping and what justice she sought, she responded, “I have no idea… Crime will never stop.”
As investigations continue, family and loved ones are left to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of two lives.
