Going into the weekend, Morne Fortune Gladiators will be in high spirits as they prepare to close out their preliminary slate in the KFC National Basketball League. They lost to Soufriere Kings on Tuesday, but roared back with a 26-point win over Combined Forces on Wednesday.
Behind a Clendon Donaii double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, Gladiators won 74-48 over the lawmen and firemen. Donaii added steals as well. Shamoir JnBaptiste finished with a double-double of his own, 18 points and 13 assists for the Gladiators. Erwin Tertullien was the lone player in double digits for Combined Forces with 10 points.

On Saturday, the Gladiators can record their fifth win as they complete their regular season run against the bottom team, Combined Schools. The men from Morne have the opportunity to go into the playoffs with some momentum if, as expected, they defeat the schoolboys, who have just one victory this term.
In a mid-table clash, Basketball For The Future overcame a late run by Vieux Fort Basketball to win 69-61. Veteran big man Marcian Calderon finished with a double-double, 17 points and as many rebounds. Cletuson Leon also chipped in with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kurt ‘Bawse Cartel’ Raphael had a game-high 20 points for Vieux Fort.
This weekend, as the playoffs loom, Combined Forces play East Coast Academy. Bonne Terre Blazers play BFTF. And defending champions Soufriere Kings square up against Vieux Fort Basketball.
