The quarterfinals of the Kaiso Pros Tent lit up the Cultural Centre stage on Wednesday night with a showcase of local talent.
The first of two rounds kicked off with powerful performances that set the tone for the night. Blaze opened with the rhythmic and infectious Dé Ban, followed by Kay Kay’s bold and expressive A Woman Ten Times. Black Berry delivered a socially conscious message in People Are People, while De Vine touched hearts with Tribute To Mama.
Dez Chanttel kept the energy high with House Pets, and J’urgun brought humour and commentary with 1 Eh Going Back. Hyper’s Mr Bus Driver resonated with everyday struggles, Taker challenged norms with Not Enough To Get Out, and Lady CC pushed for personal growth in Change Your Behaviour. TC Brown’s Kaiso and Mystic’s emotional Mental Health closed the round with depth and resonance.
In Round two, Blaze returned with the crowd-pleasing Focus, and Kay Kay followed with the powerful Calypso Lost, drawing attention to the preservation of tradition. Black Berry’s Same Ole Chains tackled generational struggles, while De Vine’s Not Built Fo Backup emphasised resilience.
Dez Chanttel’s Keep On Walking inspired perseverance, J’urgun got the crowd laughing with Give Dem A Horn, and Hyper’s Why raised questions about society’s direction. Taker inspired with Build Strong Children, Lady cc brought love to the stage with Love Me, and TC Brown made a strong statement with My Choice. Mystic closed the night on a reflective note with Home, leaving a lasting impression.
The audience responded positively throughout the night.
