Saint Lucia Carnival enters final week with packed schedule

Carnival has entered its climactic final week, promising an unforgettable explosion of music, colour and culture.

From the pulsating rhythms of Dennery Segment to the fierce battles of calypso and soca monarch competitions, the country is ready to deliver what organisers are calling “the ultimate Lucian Carnival experience”.

Highlights

  • Wednesday, July 9: D-Vibes Dennery Segment Exposition
    • A non-competitive showcase of Dennery Segment music legends (Black Boy, UPMA, DJ HP) at the National Cultural Centre.
  • Thursday, July 10: Commercial House Calypso Competition
    • Corporate teams and defending monarchs compete in a lively, staff-driven event.
  • Friday, July 11: National Groovy & Power Soca Monarch Finals
    • Ten finalists in each category battle for the crown at The SAB.
  • Saturday, July 12: Calypso Monarch Competition
    • Reigning champion Dez faces nine challengers in a lyrical showdown.
  • Sunday, July 13: Junior Carnival & Panorama
    • 11 a.m.: Kids parade through the city.
    • 8 p.m.: Steelband competition featuring four orchestras vs seven-time champs Courts Babonneau.
    • Special Return: Diamond Steel perform for first time in years but as non-competitors.
  • Monday, July 14: King & Queen of the Bands
    • Costume showcase at The SAB (free entry).

Tickets for paid events are selling fast at cell outlets, Steve’s Barbershop, and online via 4circlesticket.com. Organisers warn against last-minute purchases as tickets cost more at the gate.

As excitement builds, Carnival Planning and Management Committee PRO Chelsea Jongue reminds revellers: “Carnival is our time to express ourselves creatively and enjoy the moment… but if you’re drinking, don’t drive. Be responsible not just for yourself, but for those around you.”
