Police appeal for information as they investigate footballer’s fatal stabbing

Police have issued an appeal for information to assist in their investigation into the fatal stabbing of Sherman Augustin, a national footballer and former midfielder for Antiguan club Grenades FC, who was killed on Carnival Monday in Vigie.

Police confirmed in a statement earlier today that they were alerted to the incident and that Augustin had been transported to the Owen King European Hospital by the Saint Lucia Fire Service, where he was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

His death has sent shockwaves through the local football community, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates and clubs.

The authorities have not yet released details surrounding the circumstances of the stabbing, but confirmed that a probe is underway.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is appealing to anyone who may have information related to the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 456-3770 or 456-3817. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the Crime Hotline at 555 or through the RSLPF Crime Hotline App, available on the Google Play Store.

  1. So they’re not saying if he was a reveller, did it happen in a band, or if the perpetrator was also a reveller? I mean there’s none to hide. It happened in full view of people no??

  2. So this confirms that the cameras on every light pole are offline, disconnected, worthless, dead on arrival, for parts only, dummies etc etc. Another daylight murder as was done on Derek Wolcott Square in the past…..not even a potential description of the suspect…a male or female or dog or alien from space? No Nutting from Police? Can’t even give the public a little clue? I waiting to hear the organizers say ” oh carnival 2025 was a resounding success and next year will be even better” I waiting to hear yol say that!

  3. @George you ar correct ✅…the truth is not in them. In their 238 square miles folk saw and folk know ..what a crying shame.
