The death toll from a July gun attack in Marchand has risen to two after a victim succumbed to injuries following weeks of medical treatment.
On Sunday, July 20, 2025, at about 7:55 p.m., officers from the Marchand Police Station responded to reports of gunfire along Marchand Road. When police arrived, they learned that two men had been shot.
One of the victims, Kwame George, 45, of Marchand Road, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU).
The second victim, 37-year-old Chris Lionel of Tou Rouge, Marchand, was rushed into treatment with critical injuries. After a battle for his life, Lionel died on Tuesday, August 12.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Major Crimes Unit is continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 456-3754. Anonymous tips can also be shared by dialling 555 (the Crime Hotline) or through the RSLPF Crime Hotline App.
