Shooting team returns to Saint Lucia with 12 medals

An 18-member team from the Saint Lucia Shooting Association returned this week with 12 medals from the Black Beard Trophy IPSC Tournament in Guadeloupe: five first-place finishes and two President’s Medals across six divisions. The Level III International Practical Shooting Confederation competition took place March 18–22.

Dilan Biscette delivered a dominant performance in the Production Optics Division, scoring an impressive 1,504 points to secure first place. In the Open Division, Curtis Altifois, president of the SLSA, captured the top spot with 1,471 points. Both earned President’s Medals.

The IPSC President’s Medal recognises outstanding achievement, service and impact on the sport and is awarded sparingly.

Adding to the nation’s success, Horace Darrell, competing as a senior in the Open Division, secured third overall and first place senior, with a strong 1309-point finish. Lawrence Yung followed with second in the Senior category, scoring 1114 points.

Johann Cools was fourth, Ajid Jankie fifth, Jonathan Auguste fourth among the seniors, and Quintin Franklin 10th. In the Standard Division, Christopher Thakur was third among the Seniors with 955 points. In the Optics Division, Parbatie Seebarran, the team’s female competitor, won the women’s class with 441 points.

Biscette and Thakur showcased their versatility by competing in Pistol Calibre Carbine – similar to rifle platforms but chambered in pistol-calibre ammunition. Thakur was fifth in the Seniors, and Biscette was 17th overall.

A bonus Shoot-Off featured the top eight competitors from each division. Saint Lucia dominated the Open Division podium, with Cools in first place, Altifois second, and Darrell third.

“These achievements highlight the continued growth, discipline, and competitive excellence of Saint Lucian shooting athletes on the regional stage,” said a release from the SLSA. “The team’s performance reflects the dedication and individual commitment of its athletes, who continue to elevate Saint Lucia’s presence across multiple divisions.”

The tournament brought together 104 handgun and 21 PCC athletes from seven regions who competed across seven divisions, including Production Optics, Production, Open, Standard, Optics, Classic, and PCC.
