Drugs, Firearms and Ammunition Seized by Police

A string of joint operations between the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) and the Customs & Excise Department have led to the interception of narcotics, firearms and ammunition, dealing another blow to criminal networks attempting to smuggle contraband into the island.

On Thursday, August 14, officers of the RSLPF’s Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit, working alongside Customs officials, carried out two operations. At the General Post Office, investigators intercepted a package disguised as confectionery items. Inside, they discovered 620 grams of compressed cannabis resin with an estimated street value of EC$24,800.

Later that same day, another bust took place at Shed No. 7 at the Castries Port. Officers intercepted a shipment of household goods concealing prohibited items, including two firearms and 255 rounds of assorted ammunition. The contraband was hidden inside flour packets, beverage containers, and other packaging in what police described as increasingly sophisticated concealment methods.

The following day, on Friday, August 15, law enforcement again turned their attention to the General Post Office. A package labelled as food products was searched and found to contain 3.44 kilograms of cocaine, carrying an estimated street value of EC $86,000.

The RSLPF emphasised its commitment to intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration as critical tools in dismantling such operations. Investigations into all of the matters remain active and ongoing.
