More Honours for Footballer Louis

Star Saint Lucian striker Arnicka Louis is quickly getting used to all-Conference honours. Twice already named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, the Indian Hills sophomore on Tuesday collected her second consecutive ICCAC DI Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week title.

The speedy, powerful forward from the Castries community of Marchand scored four goals this week and led the Warriors to wins in both their matches, 2-0 over Paris Junior College (Texas) on the road, and 4-1 at home over Western Wyoming Community College.

The team’s home-opening win at Ottumwa on Sunday moved the Warriors to 3-1-0 for the year. They have now jumped into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women’s Soccer national rankings at No. 20 this week.

Louis, a graduate of Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, has now climbed into the top 10 in school history in career goals (16) and career points (43) for the Warriors. Her two second-half markers against Western Wyoming were her fourth and fifth goals this term, in just four games.

Meanwhile, freshman Annabelle Combes was tapped as the ICCAC DI Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. The Frenchwoman led the Warrior defence with seven saves on the week, including a complete game shutout against Paris, her second clean sheet of the year. Combes boasts a 1.00 goals against average and a .765 save percentage on the year.

The Warriors are back in action on Sunday, September 7, with a cross-division matchup at Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City, Iowa.
