Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) endorsed candidate Keithson Kiffo Charles has doubled down on his commitment to a “positive, solutions-focused” campaign as he contests the Choiseul/Saltibus seat in the upcoming general elections.
His comments come following public statements by the current parliamentary representative, United Workers Party (UWP) member Bradley Felix, who recently addressed what he described as “disparaging” accusations made against him by a seemingly fake social media profile. Felix strongly denied the claims and went on to imply that Charles may be involved in spreading or amplifying the content in the constituency.
In a recent statement, Charles distanced himself from the matter, characterising such insinuations as part of the outdated political playbook that voters have grown tired of.
“The people of Choiseul/Saltibus have made it clear they are tired of the old style of politics that focuses on negativity and personal grievances,” Charles said.
“Our community is ready to turn the page and focus on what’s possible when we work together. My campaign is an invitation to everyone to join us in this effort.”
Charles, a first-time candidate, emphasised that his campaign is rooted in opportunity, inclusion, and rebuilding trust in representation. His platform, he said, aims to create real avenues for youth development, reinforce community ties, and promote long-term growth in Choiseul/Saltibus.
“We will continue to run a positive campaign, worthy of the great people of this constituency,” he affirmed.
“This is a moment for optimism and unity, not for the politics of yesterday.”
The SLP candidate also noted that the politics of division and distraction have long failed to bring meaningful progress to the constituency, and he urged a shift in approach.
“My campaign is dedicated to bringing positive, solutions-focused leadership to the community,” Charles added.
Charles will go head-to-head against UWP incumbent Felix in what is expected to be one of the more closely watched races in the upcoming election. Charles is calling on constituents to look forward, not back — and to judge his campaign by its message, not the noise around it.
