The Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport has announced that its Northern Office in Union, Castries, will be closed from 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, until Friday, October 17, 2025.
According to the department, this temporary closure is necessary to facilitate a full deep cleaning of the building. Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, October 20, 2025.
During the closure period, the public will be able to access critical transport-related services through alternative channels. Driver’s license renewals and vehicle registrations will be conducted at the Service Bureau Agent office on Bourbon Street, Castries, located at the St. Lucia Workers’ Credit Union.
Route Permit Omnibus transactions will be carried out on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while theory exams for drivers will be suspended in Castries for the duration of the closure, practical exams will continue as scheduled.
Members of the public are also encouraged to make use of the Transport Division’s Vieux Fort Sub-Office as well as the government’s online digiGov platform at www.digiGov.govt.lc, which is also accessible at ITC Centres in Micoud, Vieux Fort, Laborie, and Soufrière.
Other essential services will continue through designated offices. Submission and collection of electrical inspection certificates will be facilitated at the Public Utilities and Energy Unit on the ground floor of the Sir Stanislaus James Building at the Castries Waterfront.
Administrative correspondence may be submitted to the receptionist at the Material Laboratory in Union, while the Materials Testing Lab will remain open throughout the period. All cash-related payments will be processed at the Accountant General’s Department on Jeremie Street in Castries. However, the department has reminded the public that cash services at that office close at 2:00 p.m. each day.
In issuing the notice, the Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport apologized for any inconvenience that the closure may cause and thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation.
The department says it looks forward to resuming full service on Monday, October 20, 2025.
