Saint Lucian boxing delegation heads to Guadeloupe

A dynamic team of six boxers and two coaches will represent Saint Lucia at the 1st Annual Open International Boxing Tournament in Guadeloupe, set to take place from October 25-26, 2025.

The Saint Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) confirmed the eight-member delegation, comprising some of the island’s most promising emerging and elite boxing talents, is poised to make a significant impact on the French Overseas Territory.

This tournament features competitors from across the Caribbean and Canada, providing a valuable platform for exposure, experience, and development for Saint Lucia’s athletes.

The delegation includes:

  1. Kyghan Mortley
  2. John Didier
  3. Kyle Marcel
  4. Danail Cooman
  5. Nacham Alex
  6. Orlando Monrose

Providing strategic, technical, and ringside support are National Head Coach Conrad Frederick and Cuban Specialist Coach Yunior Quintero-Perez.

David Shakes Christopher, president of the Saint Lucia Boxing Association, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness.

“We are proud to field a team that showcases the future of Saint Lucian boxing. This tournament is not just about medals, but growth, networking, and preparing our boxers for bigger international platforms, including Commonwealth Games and Olympic qualifiers.”

The team is scheduled to depart Saint Lucia on October 21, with all athletes undergoing final training and fitness checks before their departure.

The SLBA also extended its appreciation to its sponsors, the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Inc. and the French Embassy to the OECS, for their continued support in enabling international participation. (PR)
