Woman charged in $161,000 drug bust at port Castries

A woman from La Croix has been charged in connection with the possession of 5.38 kg of suspected cannabis, discovered during a drug interception at Port Castries on October 29, 2025.

The shipment carried an estimated street value of EC$161,000.

Kermisha Florent was arrested on site, granted $14,000 bail when she appeared before the First District Court on November 3, 2025, and is scheduled to reappear in court on December 9.

Police reported that she arrived at the port to clear a shipment when officers inspected a box in her presence. The search led to the discovery of six packages of suspected cannabis, concealed within the shipment.

Inspector Shervon Mathieu, Head of the police Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, underscored the importance of law enforcement operations in curbing the flow of drugs and weapons into Saint Lucia.

“The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force remains firmly committed to the safety and security of the public,” he said. “These targeted enforcement operations represent clear steps in reducing the circulation of illegal firearms, intercepting narcotics destined for our communities, and ensuring that those suspected of contributing to criminal activity are made to answer before the courts.”

This latest bust follows a series of similar operations at the island’s ports in recent weeks, as police ramp up intelligence-led efforts to disrupt organised criminal activity and strengthen border security.

  3. @hmm your statement is absolutely crazy. You know how many women weaponizing themselves by falsely accusing males. They are unaware of the damage they’re creating.

  4. It is interesting that this article has the picture and details of the accused and not previously reported gun crime.
Even the last arrest and charge of the Port Police arrest reported here was not published.
    Why not?
