Saint Lucia-Taiwan trade show highlights food security, digital transformation

The 18th annual Saint Lucia-Taiwan Partnership Trade Show placed a strong spotlight on food security and digital transformation in today’s landscape. This year’s edition brought together 65 Saint Lucian and 25 Taiwanese businesses at the Pavilion on the Ramp in Rodney Bay from November 7-9, 2025.

The three-day event, a key feature of Saint Lucia’s 2025 Business Month, showcased a diverse range of products from agro-processed goods and local cuisine to handmade crafts, technology and innovative services. The show also encouraged business-to-business (B2B) interactions to deepen trade ties, introduce new products into local value chains and expand domestic opportunities for Saint Lucian manufacturers and service providers.

Held under the theme Securing Tomorrow: Powered by Sustainability, Built on Resilience, the trade show celebrated nearly two decades of partnership in trade, enterprise development and innovation between Saint Lucia and Taiwan.

Nicole Su, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Lucia, praised the spirit of collaboration, noting that the event exemplified the ambition and creativity of Saint Lucian entrepreneurs.

“The idea is to bring business people, buyers and investors together… so that they could explore together your opportunities,” she said, adding that she is always pleasantly surprised and very much impressed with St. Lucian Culture.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ernest Hilaire, explained the significance of the event’s theme and its message for the future. “The theme of this year’s event, secure in tomorrow, powered by sustainability, built on resilience, was carefully selected to emphasise that the choices we make today in our businesses have lasting implications.”

He said this event shows that sustainability is not merely an option, but essential for a prosperous future, and it highlights the urgency of embracing practices that safeguard our environment, strengthen our economies and empower our people.”

Hilaire further noted that the theme also “reminds us that true progress is measured not only by growth today, but also by the resilience we build to withstand the challenges of tomorrow, ensuring that future generations inherit a world of opportunity and stability.”

He emphasised that the partnership between Saint Lucia and Taiwan reflects this very spirit of sustainability and shared progress, showcasing how collaboration can help “secure a better tomorrow” through innovation, environmental consciousness and resilience.
