Piton Boyz in DR for Concacaf’s Friendly Series

Saint Lucia’s senior national men’s football team will face Cuba on Wednesday, November 12, in the Concacaf Friendly Series, followed by a fixture three days later against St Vincent & the Grenadines. Both games will be played at Cibao Stadium in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

The Piton Boyz left the island on Monday, with a much-changed squad from their last assignment – World Cup Qualifiers in June in Willemstad, Curaçao. Saint Lucia lost to the home team, but defeated Barbados in what was technically a home game.

Absent from that squad are Jamaica-based players Alvinus Mayers, a fullback, and goalkeeper Darren Donaie. Also missing are central defender and captain Terell Thomas and winger Arkell Jude Boyd, both of whom ply their trade in England. Kegan Caull, Ryan Charles, Ryan Remi and Troy Greenidge are also omitted.

In their stead are some familiar former faces. Goalkeeper Anton Richard will deputise for Vino Barclett. Defender Doneal Lionel is recalled, as are young midfielders Brandon Sandiford and Eymani Butcher, veterans Gregson President and Ridel Stanislas. Ajani Louis, Dervaj Edward, Elijah Joseph and Trent Alexander are also included.

Retained from the World Cup Qualifying squad are forwards Aaron Richard, Caniggia Elva, Donavan Jn Baptiste, Saviola Elva and Mervin St Romain. Midfield duties will fall to Bayan Aman, Hamaiael Charlery and Shaquan Nelson. In the defence will be Melvin Doxilly, Joshua Solomon-Davies and veteran fullback Kurt Frederick. Devone St Prix is the other reserve goalkeeper.

Drawn in Group A of the Concacaf Friendly Series, Saint Lucia’s Piton Boyz will also face Martinique and the Dominican Republic next year. The 2025–26 Series is meant to provide matches for member nations that were already eliminated from 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.
