Soufriere’s Kaiden Charlery produced the only half-century of the weekend, guiding Sulphur City into the semifinals of the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) Laborie Credit Union Under-13 Grassroots Tournament. Soufriere trounced South Castries by 37 runs, as the quarterfinals got underway on Sunday, November 9, at Desruisseaux.
Batting first, Soufriere scored 119 all out. Charlery amassed 62 runs. Jeremiah Charles and Jarvin Octave had three wickets each for the fielding team. South Castries were then bundled out for just 82 runs. Kaylan St Juste was one of just two players in double figures, whilst Alaska James took three wickets, and Azzan Charles took two.

Desruisseaux got to their target with five wickets in hand; Eliotte hitting 37 and R Camsel 30 in their tally of 126-5.
In the final preliminary games, Dennery won the toss and amassed 145-5 against Micoud, Cameron Pinel leading with 23, and Rayshan Henry taking 2-14. Micoud’s reply never got going. They were held to 67-9, Kaiden Emile, the Dennery captain, taking 5-8 with the ball, as his team won by 78 runs.

Babonneau beat South Castries by four wickets to consign them to second in the group. South Castries made 57-8, and Babonneau needed just nine overs to get to 59-6. Vincy Cadasse took 2-1 and top-scored with 18 for Babonneau, while Jeremiah Charles took 4-22 for South Castries.

South Castries player Ariana Dujon appreciated the outing, despite ending up on the wrong side of the results. “I feel like, even though we lost, we still played very well. The children caught the balls, and it was a fun experience. I didn’t catch any balls, but I still tried my best, and I really enjoyed it. I just want to tell my team, ‘Good job’,” she said.
The quarterfinals continue this Saturday, November 15, at Dennery. Babonneau will play Choiseul, and Laborie will take on Dennery.
