Seven Inducted into Cricket’s HPC for Year Three

Seven players have been named to form the third cohort to join the Saint Lucia Cricket High Performance Centre.

The announcement was made on Saturday, November 15 when the SLCHPC held its induction cocktail at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Spa & Beach Resort.

The incoming septet includes former Saint Lucia Under-17 captain and Windward Islands batsman Khan Elcock, Windward Islands youth legspinner Cody Fontenelle and Mon Repos batter Cody Lesmond. The others are Sacchin Josh Cepal, Kethan Charlemagne, Ephron Charles, and a lone female player, Kanicsher Auguste.

They will be training mainly at Mindoo Phillip Park under the leadership of head coach John Eugene and SLCHPC chairman Craig Emmanuel.

Among the graduates of the HPC are West Indies players Ackeem Auguste, Qiana Joseph, Zaida James and Nerissa Crafton, as well as West Indies Under-19 players, Tarrique Edward and Selena Ross.

As part of the induction ceremony, the class of 2024 was recognised for their hard work during the past 12 months. Coming in for special commendation were the most disciplined cricketer, Shawnil Edward; most dedicated player, Selana Ross; most improved, Royce Paul; and most outstanding, Bolton Sayers. The coach’s award went to Theo Edward.

The SLCHPC, a joint initiative of the Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports, and the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association, is funded in part by the National Lotteries Authority. Into its third year, the initiative aims to provide a dedicated training environment for talented young cricketers, especially those on the verge of regional and international cricket.
