Saint Lucians will soon enjoy a new beach park facility at Mount Pimard, Rodney Bay, an initiative by the developers of the multimillion-dollar A’ila Resorts and Residences and The LifeCo Holistic Wellness Hotel.
Though not part of the original scope of works, the resort owners say the park was a necessary addition, designed for the many Saint Lucians who use the beach for recreation or to ply their trade.
The A’ila Beach Park, said to be the first of its kind in Saint Lucia, will feature public washrooms, bars, vendors’ booths and a children’s play area, creating a recreational space while opening economic opportunities for locals.
The project owners describe the facility as a tangible mark of their commitment to the community and to sustainable tourism practices that directly benefit the people.
A’ila’s administrative consultant, Sean Bonet, described the development as a partnership with the community.
“A’ila came in with the intention of developing a world-class tourism product which is well underway. Over the last several months of construction, we have employed hundreds of Saint Lucians. However, we want the people to be a part of what we were doing, not just through employment, but by giving back in more tangible ways. And so the first part of our commitment is the beach park facility,” Bonet said.
He also reassured the public that beach access will remain open.
“We want to reassure the public that the project owners have no intention of impeding access to the beachfront,” he said. “The construction of the beach park facility for the public at the base of the overall A’ila project is a reflection of our commitment to upholding that.”
Sub-contractor Brent Nicholas welcomed the initiative, calling it “commendable and valuable” for ensuring continued public use of the beach while enhancing its amenities.
The sod-turning for A’ila Resorts and Residences and The LifeCo Holistic Wellness Hotel took place in May 2024. The development will include private villas, resort rooms and residences. The first phase – the LifeCo Holistic Wellness Hotel – is nearing completion alongside the beach park, with doors expected to open in early 2026.

Nothing in this world is for free! We need to know how much more tax concessions A’lia received in exchange for building the beach park which of course is geared towards improving the area right outside their own hotel!
