Robots, vision, bold ideas shine at Orbtronics’ Innovation Gala

Over 200 of Saint Lucia’s most innovative minds gathered at Sandals Grande on December 14 for the inaugural Orbtronics Innovation Gala. The event showcased the talent Fair Helen has to offer in business and technology and offered much to attendees, including robots on display, fine cuisine and entertainment.

Orbtronics is a premier platform advancing the Caribbean’s innovation agenda. The company serves as a tech hub, providing software solutions, education, and support for start-ups, governments and enterprises, with the aim of positioning Saint Lucia as a Caribbean centre for innovation.

The event acted as a microcosm of the work Orbtronics seeks to inspire. Keeghan Patrick, co-founder and CEO of Orbtronics, indicated that the overwhelming support at the Gala showcased the company’s prowess as a trendsetter and game-changer in Saint Lucia.

“The general feeling is Orbtronics is a leader in technology in SaintLucia and what we’re doing right now is expanding that narrative and growing throughout the Caribbean region. Our goal is really to help accelerate technology adoption and creation throughout the region. We believe in the Caribbean, we’re no longer going to be consumers of technology, but we’re going to create the world’s next greatest technologies, right here.”

These sentiments were echoed by co-founder, Sherguan Roserie, who said, “We are incredibly pleased with the success of the 2025 Orbtronics Innovation Gala, which exceeded expectations in both engagement and impact. The strong support from our sponsors, partners, and attendees, including representatives from leading global technology firms, demonstrates the growing importance of innovation across the Caribbean. This event will continue to be an essential platform for collaboration, inspiration, and showcasing bold ideas that will help shape the region’s future.”

The innovators were not the only ones in the room. Government officials, regional leaders, members of established Caribbean corporations, and representatives from major international technology firms, including Google and Amazon, were present to share in this celebration of excellence and game-changing developments. Among the individuals of note were Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre and Didacus Jules, Director General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States.

In a short message to the audience, Pierre revealed that further investment in the technology company would be included in the next budget. Pierre, who had helped Orbtronics get off the ground with a substantial investment in its early days, was named Orbtronics Person of the Year at the Gala. The Prime Minister also shared a memorable moment on stage, shaking hands with the Kaizen X AI Robot, symbolising the intersection of emerging technologies in the Caribbean.

“There is lots of talent in this country,” he said. “What you need is vision, boldness, commitment and discipline and these gentlemen have shown that. We will give them all the encouragement, all the support that they need and to anybody else in this room, everybody in this room who has an idea, everybody in this room who wants to improve themselves first and the country.”
