Fatal motorcycle collision claims life of 37-year-old Bexon man

A fatal vehicular collision along Marc Road, Bexon, has claimed the life of a 37-year-old man, prompting renewed calls for caution on the nation’s roads.

According to a press release issued by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, officers from the Department of Road Safety and Traffic Investigations received a report of the incident at about 12:00 p.m. on January 19. Police responded to the scene where preliminary investigations revealed that the collision involved a truck and a motorcycle.

Following the collision, the lone motorcycle rider was transported by ambulance to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU). He was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner. The deceased has been identified as Kelvin Eugene. Police indicated that a post-mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.

According to a press release, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force urged motorists to exercise caution while commuting and to comply with the laws that regulate vehicle operations and road usage.

The tragic incident has left family members and the wider community in mourning. During an interview with St. Lucia Times, a relative described Eugene as “loving and kind hearted,” adding that he was still alive when they went to the hospital but later passed away.

Members of the Bexon community have also expressed shock and sadness at his passing. A resident named Andrauas, described the deceased as “good to everybody” and used the opportunity to remind road users of their shared responsibility for safety. He advised that persons should be careful on the road, noting that when driving, “they have to drive for yourself [and for others].”
