The 2026 edition of the Carmen Rene Memorial School (CRMS) sports meet produced a repeat winner, but Gill House was pressed all the way, eventually winning by one point from Lewis, 303 to 302, with Walcott just a further six points back. Only Rene, second in 2025, lagged on 235 points.
The atmosphere was electric on Friday, January 30, at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. Gill demonstrated their strength in depth, as a new cohort of stars emerged from the San Souci school.
Aiden Berkeley of Walcott won the Under-9 boys 60m in 10.2 seconds, and was second in the 150m in 25.6 seconds. He was fourth in the 300m as well. Jmarney George doubled up in the Under-11 80m (12.1) and 600m (2:09.7), winning both for Rene. Jaylan Howell, silver in the 80m, got the top spot in the 150m in 23.4 seconds for Gill, and Kavanni Branford ran 56.2 to win the 300m for Lewis.
The battle in the Under-13 boys was interesting, as Jaden Jacob won the 80m in 11.2 seconds for Walcott and Dante Delice the 150m in 20.9 seconds for Gill, each grabbing a share of bragging rights. Less than two 10ths of a second separated them in their two races. Hervany George ran 50.25 to win the 300m for Walcott, whilst Gill’s Gavriel Daniel won the 600m in 1:59.44.
Supremacy was shared in the Under-9 girls. Anikka Alexander won the 60m in 11.0 seconds for Rene, and Nellisa Daniel the 150m in 28.4 for Lewis. Arielle Charles was only third in the Under-11 80m in 12.6 seconds, but she swept to victory in the 150m (24.0) and 300m (54.7) for Walcott. Lewis star Kylie Felix (12.2) got the 80m, and Walcott’s Harmony Fitz (2:20.4) the 600.
Allina William was amazing in the Under-13 girls. She took wins in the 80m and 150m for Gill, running 11.9 and 22.6 seconds, respectively, and held on for silver (55.9) in the 300m. That last silver medal distinguished William from Alexia Lloyd, gold medallist in the 300m (52.6) and 600m (2:13.9).
Late surges from Lewis and Walcott were too little, too late to stop the Gill train from rolling out for yet another trip to title town.
