Anse La Raye bragging rights for Lawrence House

Just two points separated the top two houses at Anse La Raye Primary School, as Lawrence overturned last year’s results to win the annual inter-house track meet on Friday, February 6, at the Anse La Raye Playing Field.

Lawrence amassed 360 points, with the defending champions, Samuel, hot on their tails with 358. Robinson were third on 330.

“We started a little late, but everything went well,” said physical education teacher Bobby Robutte. “No injuries, and the kids were energetic.”

The Under-13 boys were particularly strong for the winning team, winning all five individual gold medals. Jedd Desir was the top athlete, with wins in the 300m and 1200m. Taj Stephen took the 600m, and got bronze medals in the 150m and 300m. Liam Henry led a Lawrence quinella in the 80m with Janach Mitchel. Mitchel, in turn, won the 150m.

Zandra Seraphin, who made the District 4 team in 2025, also played her part in helping lead Lawrence to victory. She got three gold medals, winning the Under-13 300m, 600m and 1000m. Vernella Smith took the 80m and 150m for Samuel in that division.

Lawrence were also strong in the Under-11 boys. Jaycee Alphonse won the 80m and 150m, whilst Edwin Cadasse added the 600m title. Second to Alphonse in the 80 and 150, and third in the 600, Ryhim Esnard kept Robinson in proximity with a handome win in the 300m.

Robinson also figured heavily among the Under-11 girls, through Harmony Leonty. Leonty won the 80m, 150m, and 600m for Robinson, while Paige Mercier got the 300m for Lawrence.

The Under-9 category featured winning performances from Glenda Jn Charles among the girls, and Benjamin Alfred for the boys.

Four relays were contested in the Under-13 division. Samuel won the girls’ 4x100m and 4x300m, and got silver medals in both boys’ races to make the final count excruciatingly close. Lawrence, winners of both boys’ relays, took second and third among the girls, doing just enough to lift the trophy.
