The Community Services Unit of the Department of Equity, Social Justice, Gender and Older Persons has recognised 20 dedicated fathers from Canaries as part of a special Father’s Day event that celebrated their contributions to their families and the community.
The event was organised with Cacoa Sainte Lucie, a well-known local chocolate company in Belvedere Canaries. It honoured fathers from all walks of life, including fishermen, farmers, bus drivers and other hardworking men who help support the community.
During the celebration, the fathers received gift boxes of local chocolates and enjoyed a free three-course Father’s Day lunch provided by Cacoa Sainte Lucie.
Lyncia Antoine, social transformation officer for Anse La Raye and Canaries, said the event was meant to recognise the often-overlooked contributions of fathers and male role models.
“This initiative is about showing appreciation to the men who work tirelessly to support their families and contribute to the development of their communities,” Antoine said. “Fathers play a vital role in building strong families and vibrant communities, and it is important that we take the time to celebrate their efforts.”
The department says this event shows the Ministry’s commitment to building strong communities, supporting families, and including everyone. It also highlights the importance of fathers in shaping Saint Lucia’s society.
The Ministry of Equity thanks Cacoa Sainte Lucie for joining this special project and helping make Father’s Day memorable for these deserving fathers.
