Saint Lucian singer Sally, formerly known as Sally Elwin, has just released her new single, “Aligned”.
She is known as one of the top female voices in local music, with songs like “You are the One” and “I’ll be Okay”. In 2018, she also released a moving version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.
With “Aligned”, a song she wrote herself, Sally said she is entering a new era with a more refined sound and a renewed sense of purpose. She is also officially reintroducing herself as Sally, which she sees as the start of a fresh chapter in a career built on authenticity, resilience and heart.
“The single explores what it means to come back to yourself, to move with intention, and let your path align with your passion,” she said.
Asked what took her so long to release new music, she said, “Life took over; just working, raising children, and just finding the time. I believe now is the right time, so you can say in a nutshell it was all about the right time.”
Sally said the inspiration for “Aligned” came from her experience of going through a major operation.
“At that time I literally saw my life flash before my eyes and had me thinking about what really mattered and how fragile life itself really was.”
Sally said that thinking about inner peace and believing in the power of words all came from that experience, and these ideas are now reflected in the song.
“Aligned” is now available on local radio and streaming platforms, including YouTube. Sally said she plans to keep building on this momentum.
“I will continue to write songs, work with various producers and writers and keep putting out new music throughout the year.”
Along with the new single, a music video will be released soon to share her journey visually.
