The town of Soufriere, considered the mecca for tourism in Saint Lucia, has a new mayor as well as councillors who will run the affairs of the Constituency Council over the next two years.
Yasha Troubetzkoy, the CEO of Jade Mountain, was appointed Mayor of Soufriere/Fond St Jacques.
The Soufriere/Fond St. Jacques Constituency Council held a swearing-in ceremony where Troubetzkoy took the oath of office along with a team of councillors.
The ceremony was attended by the Parliamentary Representative for Soufriere/Fond St Jacques Emma Hippolyte and Stephenson King, acting Minister for Local Government.

We all know the system of appointing local government officials does not work! The strength of local government lies in the people’s choice. Case in point..Castries….the Minister is the Mayor, chair of the council, judge, executioner, chief developer, head urban planner and tax collector!
Every.msjor development by SLP is in the north of the.island in far off.places that should never be but soufriere and Vieux fort has zero development under this government. U people should wake up!
