Police are actively pursuing a man seen making a series of threats in a video that has spread widely across social media, St Lucia Times can confirm.
In the recording, the man voices frustration about Saint Lucia while making statements that appear to suggest possible harm to himself and others.
His comments have quickly fuelled online speculation that he was among the third-country nationals recently transferred to Saint Lucia from the United States.
However, information provided to St Lucia Times by the Ministry of External Affairs confirms that the man is a Saint Lucian national by birth who was deported from the United States to Saint Lucia in March 2023.
He is therefore not part of the Third-Country Nationals (TCN) Programme.
In a subsequent statement, the ministry sought to address concerns raised by the video, reiterating that individuals accepted by Saint Lucia under the TCN programme are subject to the screening and eligibility criteria established for the initiative.
While the video has become caught up in the wider public debate surrounding the TCN programme, law enforcement is treating the man’s statements as a separate matter.
