On Monday night at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Saint Lucia saw a new football star emerge. Kegan Caull scored a first-half hat-trick against Bermuda, leading the Piton Boyz to a 5-2 win in the Concacaf Nations League. While he may seem like a new face to some, Caull has been scoring goals, even at the international level, for a while.
Some fans might remember Saint Lucia’s team at the 2019 Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship in Bradenton, Florida. Saint Lucia beat St Kitts & Nevis 3-1, French Guiana 2-0, Belize 2-1, Nicaragua 3-12 and Puerto Rico 3-1 to win the title. Caull scored three goals and was named to the Tournament’s Best XI.
A year earlier, the young player nicknamed “Ibu” after the famous African actor played in the Caribbean Football Union Boys’ Under-14 Challenge Series. He finished that tournament tied for second in scoring with five goals.
Caull was born in Vieux Fort, grew up in Canaries, and came up through the VSADC Academy in Castries. He later connected with Nick Clement, a FIFA agent in England. Clement, a former youth player, now leads CUC758, the Creating Unique Chances agency.
Clement helped the talented young winger start his professional career with Europa Point FC in Gibraltar’s First Division. Between 2021 and 2023, Caull scored five goals in 10 games, including a hat-trick on his debut. When he briefly returned home, he scored seven goals for VSADC in just nine matches.
While playing for NK Tolmin in Slovenia, Caull scored five goals in 10 games and helped the team win league silverware. At Spain’s Villena CF, he scored six times in 10 matches. However, he later faced a tough period, managing only two goals in 13 games, mostly coming off the bench for two English non-league teams.
Caull was named the Saint Lucia Football Association’s Junior Player of the Year in both 2019 and 2020. He is currently without a club after a short spell in the Jamaica Premier League last season. If he continues to perform as he did against Bermuda, teams will likely be interested in signing him.

I am looking for a club or opportunity where I can contribute goals, energy, and professionalism.”
Caull was a dominant youth forward for VSADC, Saint Lucia, and Ciceron Secondary, leading the latter to a third-place finish in the national school championships. Quick and skilled, his transition to the senior ranks has not been seamless, but six games into his international career, he seems to be finding his feet.
The match against Bermuda also featured midfielder Shaquan Nelson, a member of the 2019 team, in his ninth international appearance. Other players from that memorable squad are still active in football.
Gilles Aurelien had an All-Conference stint as a box-to-box midfielder in US collegiate football and is in the MLS SuperDraft. Dahmanii Berthier won the Emmanuel Bellas Trophy as the top player in Tier 2 of last season’s Saint Lucia Semi-Professional Football League. Keanu Felicien and Dante Fitz are also in the SPFL, whilst Joaquim Johnson finished his degree on a football scholarship in the US.
