3 in a row for Saint Lucia in CNL

The senior Saint Lucia national men’s football team got the job done in Barbados, winning back-to-back games against Guadeloupe at the Wildey Astroturf, and taking their Concacaf Nations League win streak to three in a row. The Piton Boyz won 1-0 on Monday afternoon.

Kegan Caull was the difference-maker for Saint Lucia as they moved to the top of Group B. The unattached 22-year-old striker shrugged off his defender and hit home in the fifth minute of Monday’s contest. He had two assists on Friday in a 3-0 win over the Gwada Boyz, after scoring the first three goals in a 5-2 home win over Bermuda.

Saint Lucia head coach Rajesh Latchoo replaced Shevon Byron and Melvin Doxilly, both of whom were carrying knocks from Friday, with Gregson President and Ajani Louis. Byron, Saint Lucia’s Junior Player of the Year in 2025, was taken off on Friday.

Guadeloupe enjoyed much of the possession on a rainy day in Barbados, much different than the high temperatures when these two teams met three days prior. And while the Frenchmen had 11 shots to just six for Saint Lucia, the Piton Boyz got four shots on target, whilst the Gwada Boyz had none.

“We’re proud of the boys. They went out there, they played for the country,” said Latchoo. “We asked them to stick it out. This was a unique challenge for them, but it’s preparation for Gold Cup and bigger tournaments, because playing the same team twice in a four-day turnaround is a good challenge, and it was good playing four games in that time period, managing their freshness. They’re being able to manage themselves to make sure that they give a great effort and a performance on the field.”

Saint Lucia are still challenging for the group lead. They moved into first place on nine points, but with unbeaten Barbados set to play winless Bermuda on Monday night. Barbados started the day just one point ahead of Saint Lucia, seven points to six.

Ranked 28th in Concacaf, Saint Lucia has beaten Bermuda (24th) once and Guadeloupe (15th) twice. The third and final group window is the second week of November in Bermuda, where Saint Lucia face the Gombey Warriors again, before closing their campaign against Barbados.

Saint Lucia added Arkell Jude-Boyd after their home loss to Barbados, then brought in Donavan Phillip for the two games against Guadeloupe. Latchoo could have more options still for the November window, when winning the group and qualifying for the Gold Cup will still be in play.

“Next is recover for the next cycle. So, we’re going into the cycle now; they go back to their clubs, we monitor them, we work with the local players, and we make sure the foreign players go back in one piece and healthy so that we can get them back for November,” said the head coach. “And again, [the goal is] three points, three points, six points again.”
