A group of 16 players from Acers Tennis Academy returned four titles and three runner-up finishes from the just-concluded Fuzion Takeover SVG tournament. A total of 42 young athletes from at least four Caribbean territories competed over three days at the St Vincent & the Grenadines National Tennis Centre in Arnos Vale.
Denney Estava took the boys 16 singles crown and partnered Kyle Michel-Francois to claim the boys 16 doubles. Merkisha Justin secured the girls 14 singles title and teamed with Samuella Bertrand to win the girls 16 doubles. Finalist finishes came from Kymani St Rose in the boys under-eight red ball, Ronaldinha St. Juste in the girls orange ball, and Vernon Justin in the boys 12 singles.
The progress of the Saint Lucian contingent showed in the brackets. Squad members met each other deep in the tournament, with Estava facing Michel-Francois in the 16s semifinals, Justin playing Bertrand in the 14s semifinals, and Vernon Justin meeting Kimari Felix in the 12s semifinals. Saint Lucia also placed three separate pairings into the final four of the boys 16 doubles.Â
Coach Scyla Murray directed the on-court effort, assisted by Soochan Lewis, Skitter Emile, Perlina Morille, and Phillisia Joseph, who also served on the tournament panel as an assistant umpire. With significant sponsorship support and backing from parents, Murray said she is hopeful of taking a bigger team to this competition in 2027.
Training continues at the Saint Lucia National Tennis Centre in Beausjour, Gros Islet.
