Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary, Entrepôt Secondary, and St Mary’s College all recorded victories on Thursday at the Beausejour Gymnasium, when four matches were contested in the Schools Under-19 Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
SALCC earned an 11-point win over Leon Hess Comprehensive, 45-34. Mecan Lewis paced the College boys with 18 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals. Requel Pierre scored 11 points, and Shaynne Edgar added eight. Marvel Joseph had seven rebounds and two blocks.
Sage Lewis starred for LHCSS, who provided a solid challenge to the men from the Morne. He carried the scoring load with a game-high 23 points, to go along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Mikhail Felix added eight points.
SISSS held Micoud Secondary to just five points, en route to a 21-5 win. SISSS opened with an 8-0 first quarter and took a 10-2 lead into halftime. Both teams scored two points in the third period before SISSS closed out the game by outscoring Micoud 9-1 in the fourth.
Jadyn Gabriel led SISSS with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Tyrese St Rose had five points and 10 rebounds. Dominic Codd and Dhari Jn Baptist picked up four steals each. Yohanie Joseph and Dzeko Jn Baptiste scored two points each for Micoud, while Trevon Brown grabbed four steals.
Entrepôt Secondary defeated Beanefield Comprehensive 35-2, behind a strong defensive effort. Entrepôt held Beanefield scoreless after the first period. Imani Gonzague tallied 12 points and three steals for ESS. Jaiden Gregg contributed six rebounds and three steals, while Azaria Leon recorded four steals and four points.
SMC secured a second straight triumph to take control of Group B, winning 56-24 over Vieux-Fort Comprehensive. SMC led 24-12 at halftime.
Jabari Archibald paced SMC with 27 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals, and four blocks. Alex Constantine added an efficient seven points and three assists, while Rollins Estwick contributed six points, seven steals, and four assists. Chris Cyrilion led Vieux-Fort Comprehensive with 11 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.
