Vieux Fort Family Fun & Sports Day Postponed After New Wave Of Gun Violence

The Vieux Fort Rising Again campaign has announced the postponement of Easter Monday’s planned Vieux Fort Family Fun and Sports activity, after a fresh wave of deadly gun violence.

“After extensive consultation with supporters, volunteers, and partners, the Vieux Fort Rising Again campaign has taken the decision to postpone Monday’s event,” a statement from the organisers said.

“This decision is also out of respect to those who lost their lives during shootings on Saturday evening. Ms. Tyra Joseph was making big plans to be a vendor during the Easter Monday, Vieux Fort Family Fun and Sports Day,” the statement said regarding one of the victims.

Saturday night’s deadly gun violence claimed the lives of three people in the community.

A man was shot dead at Cedar Heights.

And shortly afterward, Tyra Joseph and her two-year-old grandson identified as Kentrell Joseph were shot dead in the Mang.

The Vieux Fort Family Fun Day organizers said they would communicate further updates where feasible, and declared that ‘Vieux Fort will rise again.’

  1. WELL DONE DAVE CAMERON….don’t know why people would want to see you go.
Would have always expected Trinidad to oppose you but the LEEWARDS ????? …maybe because Skerrit is a LEEWARD ISLANDER also…shows that they want to take insularity to the TOP.
Barbados has ALREADY put their support behind Cameron but SKERRIT says that due process was not followed in that the Barbados Board did not hear his case…lord have mercy…and a REID character agrees saying that ALTHOUGH BARBADOS has ALREADY made up its mind that they should have heard from both Cameron and Skerrit so that they could have made up their mind on WHO THEY WOULD HAVE WANTED…lord have mercy again.
….and that REID character went further and called a meeting jack….not a FELLA turned up.. and you think he done dey?…the man now wants 100 signatures by Friday to show he that serious
All he has to do is sign 100 times and take it before the CCJ and expect them to say that Barbados’ decision to support Cameron was null and void and instruct Barbados to support Skerrit instead.
Maybe those that DO NOT SUPPORT CAMERON can go and sign the REID BOOK…wunna got till Friday

  2. Look, the schools were in that condition long before money problems set in. Mashup and buy back has been the modus operandi for so long, I can’t even remember.
Stop looking for excuses and admit it is poor management that has lead to this point.

  3. Tell them PEDIPAC!!!! “We will not be rushed into irrelevant activity and pronouncements.
Still waters run deep. Stay tuned”.

  4. Is it Food Securing talking time again?
Whatever happened to the 40 acres of land which the St Thomas plantation manager had donated to the University of the West Indies, and the then chief of UWI had promised that it would be utilised in the research area of food security?
